CYFM's Day by Day Agape (DDA)
What is DDA?
The Day by Day Agape (DDA) retreat is a four-day encounter retreat for teens, ages 15-18. DDA refers to living day by day in God's love as individuals and in community. The DDA retreats are single-gendered retreat weekends.
The retreat weekend functions within the Catholic Church to help build the faith community among adults and teens. DDA focuses on the idea that faith must be a free choice and encourages teens to take ownership of their faith and give it expression in their daily lives.
What happens on DDA?
During the retreat weekend, teens get the opportunity to develop a deeper relationship with God. This is done through:
Peer and adult presentations
Small and large group discussions
Interactive music and drama presentations
Free time to reflect and relax
Participation in Catholic prayer and community
DDA can help strengthen one's faith journey with the support of peers, adult team members, spiritual directors and the CYFM community. The weekend is led by teens and is for teens.
Join the DDA Community!
DDA is a fun and active way for teens to experience God's unconditional love. It is a retreat for teens by teens: teens make up the retreat team that mentors and guides the candidates in their encounter. The teen team gives the talks and presentations and leads prayer services. After participating in DDA, many teens come back to CYFM and nurture their faith, friendships and memories formed on DDA.
DDA has been part of CYFM for more than 35 years. There have been more than 220 boys and girls DDA weekends. Teens and their families are welcomed into the CYFM community made up of those family, friends and teens of the CYFM retreat programming from schools and parishes all over the Hudson Valley, Southern Connecticut, Northern New Jersey, and Long Island.
