The Vocations Office offers several discernment weekends and days of recollection each year for men who are interested in the Capuchin way of life. These events provide an opportunity to learn just what the Capuchins are all about and to meet other men who are also discerning God's call in their life.
Throughout these weekends and days of recollection, there are many opportunities for private and communal prayer, reflection, and social gatherings, as well as presentations on discernment, religious life and the Capuchin Franciscan charism.

If you are interested in participating in any of these events, please contact our Vocation Director, Br. Tim Jones, O.F.M., Cap. at St. Joseph Friary, 34 South Chestnut Street, New Paltz, NY 12561/ phone- 845-642-1025/ firstname.lastname@example.org.
To see a video of some of our friars reflecting what inspired them to become a Capuchin, please click below. Some are relatively new to our life and some have been Capuchins for many years, but they all have much wisdom to share.
Pope Francis recently celebrated Mass with 1,200 Capuchins in Rome to commission them to be "Missionaries of Mercy."
