A saint may have baptized one of your ancestors!

Br. Edward Foley is a Capuchin Franciscan from the Province of St. Joseph. He is the vice postulator of the cause for canonization of our own holy Capuchin brother, Blessed Solanus Casey (1870-1957). With the help of our late provincial archivist, Br. Roger Deguire, Brother Ed did a deep dive into Blessed Solanus’ early ministry at Sacred Heart Parish in Yonkers, N.Y. (1904-1918), and Our Lady of Sorrows in New York City (1918-1921).

Brother Ed recently published the results of his research in American Catholic Studies. During his early years in New York, Blessed Solanus baptized hundreds of infants. This discovery puts Blessed Solanus’ sacramental ministry in a new light and provides a deeper understanding of his life and works. Brother Ed spoke recently with Tim Hinkle, director of public relations for the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph, to share his insights. Click HERE to watch the video.
