Pope Leo XIV has appointed a Capuchin friar, Br. Emilio Biosca, to be the next bishop of the Diocese of Venice in Florida. He will succeed Bishop Frank Dewane, 76. Brother Emilio (at right in photo) is a friar of the Province of St. Augustine, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh. He has been a missionary in Cuba and Papua New Guinea and pastor of the Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Washington, D.C. We congratulate Brother Emilio and wish him every blessing as he prepares to assume leadership of the Diocese of Venice.◼︎ |
