Pope Leo XIV has appointed a Capuchin friar, Br. Emilio Biosca (right in photo), to be the next bishop of the Diocese of Venice in Florida. He will succeed Bishop Frank Dewane, 76. 

Brother Emilio is a friar of the Province of St. Augustine, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh. He has been a missionary in Cuba and Papua New Guinea and is currently pastor of the Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Washington, D.C.
