In White Plains, N.Y., the Blessed Mother will now beckon all those who pass by the grounds of St. Conrad Friary to pray the rosary.

The friars welcomed a team of volunteers on July 5 and 6 who constructed a rosary garden on the east side of the property. Abby Bennett, who just graduated from high school, initiated this work in fulfillment of a service project with American Heritage Girls, a Christian scouting organization. With this project she will earn the Stars and Stripes Award, the organization’s highest honor. She was aided by her parents, Deacon Tom Bennett and Kerri Bennett, her sister Molly, and several children and teens, all of whom are active in Capuchin Family Ministries. Br. Erik Lenhart, director of Capuchin Family Ministries, was the liaison between the fraternity, the Bennetts, and American Heritage Girls.

The statue of Our Lady comes from our property in Garrison, N.Y., where once it stood in Glenclyffe, the Capuchin high school seminary. It was dedicated originally to Br. Edward McBride (d. 1964), a beloved longtime rector of the school. At the Bennetts’ request, it will be rededicated in its new setting to beloved longtime CFM chaplain Br. Fred Nickle, who prayed the rosary faithfully in silence every evening during the St. Conrad friars’ time in common meditation.
