The people of God at St. Pius X Parish in Middletown, Conn., gathered on Oct. 17, 2026, to celebrate the installation of new leadership.
Fr. Maurice Moreau was installed as pastor. Fr. Ernest Bedard will serve as parochial vicar. Fr. John Gallagher, a former pastor of St. Pius X, was present, as was Fr. Erik Lenhart, a former parochial vicar.
Bishop Richard Reidy of the Diocese of Norwich opened the liturgy and offered a charge to the community: “This is a great day for the Church of Norwich as well as your own parish here. And I’m enthused by the opportunities that we have, the new energies and leadership that we will have here, and may God bless you all in those efforts.”
The rite of installation was solemn and personal. After the opening prayers and readings, Bishop Richard, with Fr. John Antonelle, pastor of St. Mary Parish in Portland, Conn., assisting, led Father Moe through the prayers and commitments of the office. Parish council, finance council, and parish staff were invited forward to stand with the clergy as witnesses and partners in ministry. In a moving moment of entrustment, Father Moe placed his hand on the Gospel as he accepted the responsibilities of pastoral care. When the installation concluded, Bishop Reidy and Father Moe embraced, exchanging warm congratulations and a shared commitment to work together for the life of the parish.
The installation concluded with Father Moe making the promise to the congregation that “both in my words and in my conduct, I shall always preserve communion with the Catholic Church.” The celebration continued with a joyful potluck, where parishioners and clergy shared in fellowship.
Please join us in prayer and support as our friars lead St. Pius X into this hopeful new chapter.
